  71. THIS IS A LEGAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU, THE LICENSEE, and Northwest Performance Software. 
  72. BY USING THIS PROGRAM, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BECOME BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
  73. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROMPTLY RETURN THE DISK PACKAGE
  74. AND THE ACCOMPANYING ITEMS (INCLUDING WRITTEN MATERIALS AND BINDERS AND PACKAGING) TO
  75. THE PLACE YOU OBTAINED THEM FOR A FULL REFUND.

  77. Limitations for SystemScanTools Shareware Version.  NO WARRANTIES.
  78. Northwest Performance Software expressly disclaims any warranty for SystemScanTools
  79. Shareware Version.  SystemScanTools Shareware Version and any related documentation
  80. is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including
  81. without limitation, the implied warranties or merchantability, fitness for a particular
  82. purpose, or infringement.  The entire risk arising out of use or performance of
  83. SystemScanTools Shareware Version remains with you. This concludes the paragraph
  84. entitled Limitations for SystemScanTools Shareware Version.

  86. Grant of License.  Northwest Performance Software grants to you the right to use one
  87. copy of the enclosed software program, SystemScanTools, (the "SOFTWARE") on a single
  88. computer for evaluation purposes for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days.
  89. If you want to continue using this software after the thirty (30) day evaluation period,
  90. you MUST make a registration payment to Northwest Performance Software. Using this
  91. software after the thirty (30) day evaluation period, without registering the software
  92. is a violation of the terms of this limited license. The SOFTWARE is in "use" on a
  93. computer when it is loaded into temporary memory (i.e. RAM) or installed into permanent
  94. memory (e.g. hard disk, CD-ROM disk, or other storage device) of that computer.  However,
  95. installation on a network server for the sole purpose of distribution to one or more other
  96. computer(s) shall not constitute "use" for which a separate license is required, provided
  97. you have a separate license for each computer to which the SOFTWARE is distributed.

  99. Copyright.  The SOFTWARE is owned by Northwest Performance Software and is protected by
  100. United States copyright laws and international treaty provisions.  Therefore, you must
  101. treat the SOFTWARE like and other copyrighted material (e.g. a book or musical recording)
  102. except that you may either (a) make one copy of the SOFTWARE solely for backup or archival
  103. purposes, or (b) transfer the SOFTWARE to a single hard disk provided you keep the
  104. original solely for backup or archival purposes.  You may not copy the written materials
  105. accompanying the SOFTWARE.  EXCEPTION: The Shareware Version of the SOFTWARE
  106. may be uploaded to bulletin boards or to World Wide Web Software repositories for the
  107. strict purpose of download and distribution to other users.

  109. Other Restrictions.  You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE.

  111. EXPORT CONTROLS.  None of the SOFTWARE or underlying information or technology may
  112. be downloaded or otherwise exported or reexported (i) into (or to a national or resident
  113. of) Cuba, Iraq, Libya, Yugoslavia, North Korea, Iran, Syria or any other country to which
  114. the U.S. has embargoed goods; or (ii) to anyone on the U.S. Treasury Department's list of
  115. Specially Designated Nationals or the U.S.  Commerce Department's Table of Deny Orders.
  116. By downloading or using the SOFTWARE, you are agreeing to the foregoing and you are
  117. representing and warranting that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national
  118. or resident of any such country or on any such list.

  120. U.S. Government Restricted Rights.  The SOFTWARE and documentation are provided with
  121. RESTRICTED RIGHTS.  Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to
  122. restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of The Rights in Technical Data and
  123. Computer Software clause at DFARS 252.227-7013 or subparagraphs (c)(1) and (2) of the
  124. Commercial Computer Software--Restricted Rights at 48 CFR 52.227-19, as applicable.

  127. NO OTHER WARRANTIES.  To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Northwest

  130. purpose, with regard to the SOFTWARE, the accompanying written materials, and any
  131. accompanying hardware.  This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights.  You may have
  132. others which vary from state to state.

  134. NO LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. In no event shall Northwest Performance Software or
  135. its suppliers be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, damages
  136. for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, or any
  137. other pecuniary loss) arising out of the use of or inability to use the SOFTWARE, even if
  138. Northwest Performance Software has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  139. Because some states/jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for
  140. consequential or incidental damages, the above limitation may not apply to you.

  145. How to remove SystemScanTools Shareware Version from your hard disk.
  146.  
  147. This installation of SystemScanTools Shareware Version consists of these files placed
  148. in the suggested directory C:\sysscan:
  149.  
  150.      1) sysscan.exe
  151.      2) sysscan.hlp
  152.      3) readme.txt
  153.      4) logfile.out
  154.      5) toolhelp.dll
  155.      6) ver.dll
  156.      7) sst.cfg
  157.  
  158. Setup for SystemScanTools places these files on your hard disk.  If you wish to
  159. remove SystemScanTools from your computer, take the following steps:
  160.  
  161.     1)  Start File Manager or equivalent
  162.     2)  Select the directory that SystemScanTools was installed into.
  163.     (Typically C:\sysscan)
  164.     3)  Delete the directory by selecting FILE, then DELETE.
  165.     4)  Exit File Manager.
  166.     5)  Select the SystemScanTools group in Program Manager.
  167.     6)  Delete the SystemScanTools icons by selecting them one at a time so
  168. they are highlighted, then pressing the delete key for each one.
  169.     7)  Delete the SystemScanTools group by selecting it and pressing delete.
  170.     8)  The removal of SystemScanTools from you system is now complete.

  172. *SystemScanTools does not install any DLLs in the Windows or Windows\System directories.

  174. *SystemScanTools creates a SYSSCAN.INI file in the \Windows directory.  It may be deleted.
